She obviously recruited BIG girls to minimize her diminutive stature, and advanced age.
This woman dircted the chorography in 1965"Beach Blanket Bingo" for God's sake.
The Kabuki-style pancake make-up is not an accident, nor are the cheerleaders with the bodies, for the most part, of linebackers.

hi stuart (carme1956) figuring out how these comments work on youtube- but you responded to me pallypoo123 (see comment from 3 weeks ago)i danced in several of tonis vids and live shows- knew her since i was 7 and she was 'big' from ballet school! as i replied to you these vids were made pre-mtv- toni always ahead of her time. cheerleaders were from Carson High School-but think about it- are any dancers credited in music vids? Toni choreographed for Bowie, The Stones, BMidler and more greats ,,,

Hi, thats awesome and you were one of them, very impressive! Agreed, super choreography, mind blowing stuff. Loved the pom-pom column thing. I understand Basil also choreographed the promo video for Talking Heads (Once in a Lifetime). Strange though, Tony Basils Mickey song has plenty of coverage but the cheerleader girls that accompany her get no mention, seems a bit unfair as they were brilliant. Stuart.

But these girls are good I wish the cows at school would do this.
Or better yet I wish I went to a high school with ris*kay cheer moves.
By cows I mean that they are lazy and complain about stunts.

I watched a snip of this today on I love the 80's. I thought a few of thoes cheerleaders were men.
But this is the "cheer song," I wonder if she knew almost all cheerleader squads would use this song.

I see what you mean, a fine bunch of strapping, strong girls even if they look a bit androgynous. Awesome choreography and superb cheerleader stuff going on. A true 80s classic. Stuart.
