The US Navy's Electromagnetic Rail Gun that is under development at NSWC Dahlgren in Virginia. That only makes a little sense. Scenario 1, we make weapons and eventually all die in a mass world war, OR Scenario 2, we step up and be the big mature boys we claim to be, and lead by example, and stop making weapons. If Scenario 2 works then all is well, while Scenario 1 is doomed to fail eventually. Even though its doomed to fail, you still think Scenario 1 is better? Cmon man. Not to mention, if we built this shit for defense, then I wouldn't mind as much. Instead we go and kill others.
in scenario 2 if we do that there will still be corruption in the world and still people who will see we are weak and will try to destroy us in a conquest for power. its just human nature. im not saying everyone is like that but there are some.
and its either kill or be killed b/c there are those that want to kill us and as a last measure it is most often necessary to kill them so we dont get killed. im not trying to exuse it so much as provide a reason why it happens

I get what you are saying but I am a huge believer in humans acting according to their surroundings and society, not that some of us are evil by birth. I have never seen an evil infant... people aren't born with a lust for power, its taught to them by their surroundings. SO with that said, this is why I think it is more beneficial in the long run to advocate peace with life saving technology, not life taking technology. I think that a positive example would only help the world.
thats not exactly true. even children are corrupt at birth. ever heard a small child lie? even if they had never heard one b4 they would still know how to do it. nobody is perfect. now of course everyone isnt completely bad either but all im saying is that there will always be those who are bad that must be faught. but i do agree that life saving technology should be advocated, but weapons and defense technology should not be removed 4 the sake of protection even by killing so we dont get killed

Children lie out of fear and fear is a basic instinct.. its part of fight or flight, yet the child is uneducated. Uneducated (broad term where in my mind I mean unwise as to what is important in life) humans fight over what is scarce... money, health, food, shelter, stupid materialistic possessions. Find way to get rid of scarcity and there is no reason to fight, lie, kill, steal, etc. Instead we develop weapons to induce this scarcity, rather than finding ways to solve the problem.
