well not that the american public was not ready it was more that tricky was so lazy that since maxinequaye he never finished writing his songs, that is just a rough studio idea that had potential but it stayed as a repeated loop with a too heavy gospel choir to hide the fact that it missing half the song.... and I should know

tricky went native with the attire there :) What oh what makes this man who he is ? There are rumours that the American public werent ready for this sort of music back then even though he was resident there; he wasnt welcomed to NYC with a big hug... i hope its changed today though; it would be their loss if it hasnt.
Yep, read it in an interview when "angels with dirty faces" came out. He wanted aaliyah to do it but her schedule conflicted.
I gotta say, I think it fits better with PJ.
