Going to add that "mon mec" can also mean "boyfriend" too. Back in '90 a girl at the Centre Linguistique where I went for my french immersion did this for our "multi-culturelle soirée" and did a blisteringly good job! :D I have it on tape and if I could upload it I would, it's that good!*wink* This song sure brings back memories of my time in Québec and all the other french songs I heard.
