Upset all the local cats by learning how to play pinch harmonics, the high squealy sound often made by rock and metal guitar players. Extreme close ups show exactly how to angle the pick and thumb! i'm starting with it too, without distortion (i don't have any) it does sound very quiet and soft.
i got myself some headphones (those big ones) and cranked the 10w amp and the guitar volume, and when i do pinch harmonics now they sound really good, but i'm also stuck with the squealies,i can't get them to sound good

i'm sorry i meant using the whammy bar to make the guitar "scream".
btw i don't use the pick and the thumb,i use the left hand to do the harmonics

It helps if you have lots of distortion and have really "hot" pickups. This guys is not using the original strat pickups. He has a hotter pickup added. Hot means they are more responsive and louder. Humbuckers are usually more hotter than single coils. Hot pickups are used for that crazy loud metal sound and NOT for smoother jazz sounds.
do pinch harmonics work with humbuckers? thats my type of guitar and i don't know if its possible to do them.

dude, i had that problem, you should make sure your picking in the right places... i kept hitting the string where it made no noise, try if that works mate ;)

I remember struggling when I did this years ago. I think the guy explains it brilliantly, so if you can't get it now just try harder. Remember, only a tiny bit of the pick should come from under your thumb, so when you pick the string, both ur pick and thumb hit the string.
