Very nice recovery the Lufthansa Airbus at the end of that video... Would surely have crashed if it had not taken off again, no doubt.

It air pressure, wind patterns etc thats pretty much pokets of high pressure and low pressure that effects how the plane passes through the air.
He would of dropped to a lower altitude for clearer air and then proceeded to his original flight plan.
Flying over mountains etc can cause turbulance quite often because the air pressures around and above are different due the the altitude of the land.

Your more likely to die by mass diarrhea that crash in a plane.
With all the tens of thousands flights that go on everydays you get about 1 fatal crash a year.
Compare it with the frequency of fatal car accidents etc and it's happens far less.
But when it does, they're not much you can do, except possibly die from what i 1st mentioned as your coming down.
I love flying, always wanted to be a pilot myself :o)
man i almost shat on my pants just watching this. One good thing about watching these landings is in case I have a terrible landing in the future I'll remmeber those landings and remember I'm not alone.

quick question for anyone whos smart with flight.
i was on a flight from IAH (ghwbush intercontinental) to New york area and on the lift off, once we were about a 1,000 ft up, we hit a really strong wave of turbulence and the loud engine sound weared off. It sounded like the throttle pulled down. then, we went down a bit and then continued going up. there were a lot of clouds. what might have been the decrease in sound and the slight falling?

dont care what anyone says, pilots have inredible skills to be able to conrol aircraft like that

meh alone is going alil to far the wings were still providing lift so therefore that one wheel was not holding the whole plane by itself... if it had to support that much weight it would crush... which is why planes have like an assload of tires.
