I did realize after my last comment that their exaggerated accents are making fun of the way people on Superman actually talk. But Terry Jones really doesn't disguise his British too well. :D

I love this sketch, but their terrible American accents are really annoying. I'm American and I find it ironic that they say we can't do a good British accent and yet it seems that they can't do a very good American accent. Oh well. Monty Python will always be awesome despite that minor flaw with the accent.

Firstly, it's making fun of the accent, not trying to mimic it. And secondly, it's not making fun of the american accent, it's making fun of the accents specifically used in the superman episodes/films.
