From the makers of the Airplane movies this is a spoof parady and features Leslie Nielson as Lt. Frank Drebin. The beginning was almost the same but changed with guest star and title of episode. Alot of slapstick comedy. They don't make these type of shows. Spawned several movies.

lol, yes this show is priceless. i'm so glad my dad introduced me to this old show.
oh man, if you made a list of every joke in just one episode... it would be quite a long list.
the special guest stars were always funny (they always die in the opening credits and never appear in the show). when you watch the actual show, you will notice that, at some point, Frank will run into and knock over a number of trash cans equal to the episode number. so many other jokes i cant even list them all.

Hilarious series with a non stop flurry of gags. Leslie Neilson is great as Lt. Drebin.
There were only 6 episodes that aired on ABC in the spring of 1982. In the late 80s or early 90s, Comedy Central used to run them, sometimes in a marathon.
Until about 1966-67, most TV shows were still in B&W, so when they went to color many shows proudly announced that fact in the opening credits. "Police Squad In Color" was just one of the nods the show gave to all the police/PI shows from 10-15 years before.
