My contribution to society is that I won the egg drop competition in high school AP physics using a single piece of printer paper and one 3in piece of scotch tape
Its a bit tricky, a lot of potential chickens gave up their lives to perfect it. The drop was from about 20ft.
You roll the paper into a cone and tape it. put the egg into the cone and drop it. The "nose" of the cone acts as a crumple zone and completely absorbs the shock of the fall.
Heres the trick. The egg needs to be positioned JUST low enough to keep the center of gravity below where the cone will flip over mid flight and spill your egg. This is where a bit of trial and error come in.
