The best of the best
The Women
1939
MGM
Mostly Rosalind Russell and Paulette Goddard
I had to put the line when Joan Fontaine says "I'm going to have a baby" because I laugh everytime she says it.
This movie is fabulous because everytime you watch it you catch new things. I've watched it about 20 times and I still catch new lines that are kind of thrown away but are really funny.
Melodramatic to the max!
Are you ready for the 2008 remake?

Each version reflects the time period in which it was made so they don't really compare. I don't know if anyone mentioned it but Debra Messing looks remarkably like the Mrs. Flowers (spl?) of the 1939 version.

even tho the remake is awful--at last it serves the purpose of garnering more attention to this wonderful camp CLASSIC!!

I'm dying to see the original film (this one), but I have to say I actually enjoyed 2008 remake. However, I don't think it will be half as good a a Cukor movie... those were the days of great comedy and drama.
