In just one month I was admitted to the hospital twice and stayed four days each. I got 6 spinal taps in just one month. If it had gotten any worse I would have had to do surgery on my brain. I luckily got over it. It was horrible. Throwing up constantly. From the spinal tap they said that the pressure was supposed to be somewhere between 0 to 5. My pressure was 250. Any more and I could have died. I hope I never get it again.

I got viral meningitis this summer. I had constant headaches everyday that only seemed to get worse. When I went to the movies because I felt better one night I was totally wrong. That started my sensitivity to bright lights, I threw up three times, My vision was blurred and I was walking into people and stumbling over nothing.
Contracted at 20. Worst headache ever, (imagine being constantly hit in the head with a hammer), fever of 106, photophobia, vomiting, delirium, incapacitation. Seven days in hospital, in isolation. If I would have waited 5 hours more, I would have died. Powerful, strange and random disease with no cure.
my friend was rushed to the hospital about two days ago, and she almost died.

I had the viral Meningitis. The doctors said it was called encephillitis. Is that really as dangerous as Meningitis? It has been a 6 years since i contracted it and I was back to my life in a week.

mmm ok the video missed the point that there are two types.... viral and bacterial, bacterial being the most severe one. i had all my immunizations taken care of and i still got meningitis so the best thing is just to maintain your distance and enjoy your space. maintain a clean environment... by the way my meningitis was not that bad so no serious loss

My son contracted meningitis when he was just 16weeks old (31st aug 2007), we were given 4hrs!! but we were one of the very very lucky ones, hes now 16mths and seems to have suffered no side affects but we are still under Great Ormond Street for regular check ups, this is a devasting illness and needs lots more coverage!!!
I went to the hospital on agust/08 with a headache and I was there and had to put a mask on me just incase it was meningitis, they did blood work and thankfully they came out perfect! It turned out that the headache I had for a 2 days was due to chicken pox wich is rare at my age! I am 25 yearsold and I got the chicken pox, I am greatfull that its not as serious as meningitis but now that I am aware of the issue I think its important that all of us pay close attention to our health.
