Stephane Grappelli plays Gershwin

Back

Grappelli was amongst the most important pioneers of the jazz violin. Here, at the age of 81, he plays two numbers of Gerswhin in New Orleans, in the year 1989. Someone To Watch Over Me - and I Got Rhythm. Be sure to check out the latter.

It is only questionable in fields that he didn't specialize in. Comparing jazz and classical is a fools task anyway. Ever seen menuhin play jazz? He has probobly the most technique of any classical violinist I've heard, he did the moto perpeto in under three minutes, he played the second part of zigeiunerweisen flawlessly, etc, but he was stumbling around ridiculously playing this stuff. My point is don't compare such different fields in that kind of tone.
