Some of the footage in this is pre collapse and is hard to find. It gives you an idea why it was named Galloping Gertie since Transverse waves were visible along the span

ACTUALLY, the dog died because the "Professor Farquarson" attempted to save the dog but ultimatley failed, resulting in the overall fatality of the dog with the collapse of the bridge.

Saw this in school, as people say here it was resonant frequency that made the bridge collapse. I heard that it was very windy that day and the frequence of the sound the wind gave was very similar to the frequence of the bridge. So the bridge started to swing with the winds frequency til it collapsed.

yea ur rite..wat a coincidence teh breeze was exactly the same frequency as bridge..haha wind destroyed bridge...well we all learn from mistakes
