What's the point? Why not just play the mode starting from the position of the note on the original layout of the Major scale. Seems simple and straightforward and practical. What's the point of what you are doing? You may as well play the whole mode on one string or two strings or 3 strings....

Very well explained... you may like the song Rasberry Jam by Joe Satriani, you can get jam track off of his web site.. and play B Phrygian and B Dorian over it.. very good heavy metal type sounds.. And of course throw in B Minor Pentatonic sounds good too... Very well explained.. have a super day!

ey xxOnTheRhoadsxx, and the chord progressions are limited? like- you can´t put anything together even while staying in the scale? for example, could I put together H A F E ? all minors?
you lost me with the "H". But there are numerous amounts of choices if you were to play in E phrygian. You don't have to stay minor, you can use major chords, seventh chords, anything that works. Example: Em CM7 Dm G. ***it's very difficult to explain. Try looking online for music theory tips.
***Always remember that you don't have to always follow the rules. Jazz player always add accidental notes because it sounds good. So if it sounds good, do it.
