With the second round of voting set for 27th June, anyone known to support the MDC or to have voted against Robert Mugabe is in real physical danger.
Violence towards opponents of the ruling Zanu PF government increases every day. Hundreds were beaten while "an estimated 31 people were killed...and tens of thousands intimidated and forced from their homes." Many now seek sanctuary in the MDC's headquarters in Harare; but for the staunchest opponents of the regime there is no safe haven. With their few possessions they flee to neighbouring countries and wait for the violence to end.

I never implied that the sanctions could be broken, but the effects coulds be alleviated by doing more business with non-sanctioning states, just like Rhodesia did during its period under economic sanctions. This argument about western sanctions just doesn't wash. For a state to fail to this degree, its own government is to blame.

WFT- How did Zimbawe fuck it up so quick you say. Hell you really are out of touch, SANCTIONS imposed by AMERICA, are in place since the start of LAND REFORM, IN APPROX 2000. Chester Crocker one of the main sponsor of the SANCTIONS , boasted that they were designed to make Zimbabwe economy scream, in other words to destroy their economy beyond being able to function. Western Impearlisim imposed SANCTIONS prior to aggression in IRAQUI, and the IRAQUI economy was crumbling after only ten months.

You love playing the propoganda card, but fail to answer why Zimbabwe is still failing to benefit from Russian and Chinese business interests! Simple question from an "out of touch guy"! How does Zimbabwe manage to still screw up when they have the support of SADC too?!! America is influential, but not omnipotent!

{out of touch guy] I cannot see why you think SANCTIONS so Horrendous as imposed by the only real Super power, US , the EUROPEAN UNION, plus AUSTRALIA, could be broken with the business intrest Zimbabawe has with either Russia or China. 85% of Zimbabwe's imports and exports prior to SANCTIONS, was between the very Imperalist Nations who are presently strangling their economy to death.Take away 85% of any countries trade and disallow to raise forign currency , and surprise , surprise , Bust.

Zimbabwe is a shit hole because Mugabe drove white farmers (producers) of their land and gave it to black (non producers). Then he made sure he can never be ousted from power. Zimbabwe has nothing, produces nothing. Sanctions? LMAO. Zimbabwe as nothing to trade. It is what happens when you let monkeys run amok.

JSA-- Zimbabwe has not collapsed because the Land and Farms stolen by WHITE RACIST EUROPEAN CLONIST, were taken back by President Mugabe and restored to their rightfull owners the indegenous Zimbabawean. Not all STOLEN LANDS have been recovered, as RACIST EUROPEAN CLONIST, still have control of 65% of the most fertile land , on which they do not grow crops like wheat , potatoes , etc, but grow cash crops like tobacco which they mainly export to China. contd. has been deliberately sabotaged by the SANCTIONS imposed by British and American Impearlist in 2000 ,to punish President Mugabe for returning the STOLEN LANDS , back to their rightful owners the indegenous people. CHESTER CROCKER , one of the sponsor of the SANCTIONS , even boasted that the aim was to completely destroy Zimbabwe ability to function, and said the SANCTIONS were designed to make Zimbabwe's economy SCREAM. He was true to his word , as SANCTIONS have crippled Zimbabwe.
There are no sanctions, this is bluff. What Mugabe and Bap call here "sanctions" is the refusal by US banks (including IMF) to give Mugabe any more money. It is by no means "sanctions", it is simply a refusal to finance his corrupt state! The only real sanctions are against personal effects and businesses owned by about 200 corrupt government officials. I asked Bap to give me an example of independent Zimbabwe company that was refused an export deal he failed to provide such example.

wtf-- Shows how out of touch you are of what really going on in the world , other than the regurgitated Propaganda (you seem to be over loaded ) Russia has ceased to be a communist country for a decade or more, as for China , they may have a Communist Goverment , but the economy is Capitalist.
